Avalanche was a big hit
with students and
adults. We were a little
down in numbers but when
a third of the crowd
walked down on Friday
evening to make some
kind of decision, it
showed us this was not
an ordinary meeting.
Pocket Full of Rocks and
Afshin Ziafat did a
wonderful job of
ministering God’s
message and grace to
hungry attendees. I want
to say thanks to
Anchorage Baptist Temple
for hosting us. Their
staff, Darryl Nelson and
Ron Hoffman, did a
superb job of making us
feel right at home.
Thanks to all the youth
leaders giving up their
weekend to bring youth
to this event. We know
of at least 15 decisions
for Christ and many
rededications. So we are
rejoicing with the
angels.
Speaking of students, this time of year is application
time for Training Teens
Today, (T3). Deadline
for applications is May
1. You may just be
receiving this
newsletter when this
deadline occurs, so make
sure your youth have
their applications in to
our office. We will send
them the MasterLife book
to complete before the
training event. Our
goals this year for each
student is that they
learn a new Bible Study
method to use in
applying the Word to
their lives, to learn
the Roman Road
evangelism presentation
and to learn practical
skills of leadership to
use in their church. The
students who attend are
strongly encouraged to
take part in ministry in
the local youth group
and church. Most of the
students who return from
T3 are very active upon
their return. Once a
student has been through
T3 once, acceptance of
their application the
following year will be
contingent upon their
participation in
ministry in their local
church.
It is not too early to be thinking about teacher
training. In September,
FBC Woodstock, GA, will
be sending us a team of
leaders, including
author Alan Taylor, to
lead in this training
event. It will be a
tremendous opportunity
for teachers in all age
groups to learn from the
best in the business.
Look for more
information in the mail
about the event. Keep
advancing the Kingdom
and call upon us as we
seek to serve your
church’s needs. |
